If you are planning to update your floor, then you should consider the option buy parquet board, which will not only give the room an elegant look, but also ensure the durability and natural beauty of the wood.

Before the advent of parquet flooring, flooring was made entirely of solid boards and was quite expensive even in the last century, let alone today. Obviously, the main load-bearing part is the upper part of the product, which is in direct contact with the floor during installation. And all the wood below the upper part serves only as a rough floor and does not require the high hardness and wear resistance of oak or ash. It is rational to use wood of lower value for the manufacture of the substrate, which allows you to reduce the cost of the product. This is how the standard three-layer parquet board appeared.

Features of the floor covering design

  • The top (working) layer is made of oak, ash, maple or other types of wood. Either a single board (single-strip) or a set of several strips (two-, three- or multi-strip) is used. The top layer is coated with varnish or oil at the factory.
  • The middle layer, which forms the base of the board, is usually made of softwood boards laid vertically, but can also be made of fiberboard. The joints of the parquet boards are in the middle layer and are almost always interlocking.
  • The bottom stable layer is usually made of seamless veneer. This layer prevents the product from warping (bending).

Due to its construction, a three-layer parquet board is very stable and does not change in size under the influence of humidity or temperature changes. Solid wood can dry out, deform and crack.

Thanks to its construction, parquet flooring is ideal for all types of rooms. It can be installed in high-traffic areas such as corridors, halls and dance halls. It can also be installed in rooms with underfloor heating and in rooms with variable humidity.

The thickness of the top layer affects maintainability - the coating can be repaired and restored by erasing damaged areas and reapplying varnish or oil. The layers are connected together with moisture-resistant polyurethane glue, so the three-layer parquet board is extremely durable and does not break, peel off or deform.

This wood product also has excellent thermal insulation properties and can withstand short-term changes in humidity and temperature. Although it is recommended to avoid direct contact with water.

Advantages of parquet flooring: beauty, durability and ease of care

  1. Price: this floor, when installed, will not differ from a solid board, but it can be obtained at a more affordable price. Moreover, it will not differ from natural parquet. The top layer of valuable wood is 3-4 mm thick: this is enough for 20 years.
  2. Durability: This type of flooring can last for 20 years. It is guaranteed that the parquet board will not deform during use, even with minor temperature changes.
  3. Aesthetics: Another advantage is the attractiveness of the material. Parquet flooring is manufactured with an exterior design inspired by nature itself.
  4. Easy to install: thanks to the layered design of the parquet board, it is not necessary to spend a long time installing and sanding a perfectly flat plywood base for its installation - after all, it is already part of the product. Using this, it is possible to install the parquet board in a "floating" way without the use of glue, and it is quite possible to do it yourself. The lock connection securely fastens the planks to each other, eliminating the possibility of joints diverging. They can also be easily dismantled if you need to replace the floor in the room.
