<\/p>\nWhen I first heard about this 49 euro ticket, I honestly couldn't believe it was even real. In Germany, everything usually follows the rules, with tariffs, but here you have one ticket and you can go wherever you want. For a long time I thought it was some kind of trick for the locals, until I bought it myself. And that's it, it was gone.<\/p>\n
It all started with the fact that I just wanted to get out of the city. I bought a ticket online, arrived at the train station in Cologne, got an Americano with milk, put in my headphones and just went. I didn\u2019t have a plan, I just got on the first regional train going south. Outside the window were fields, small stations, lots of bicycles and people with dogs. It was so peaceful, as if time had slowed down.<\/p>\n
I reached a small town near the mountains, got out and there was a market, it smelled of pastries, children were running around, and a grandfather was selling honey. Then I just walked wherever my eyes looked, thinking that this was probably the feeling of freedom that I was missing so much.<\/p>\n
The next day I went to Munich, then to Stuttgart, then for some reason to Frankfurt \u2014 because I just wanted to. The ticket is valid almost everywhere: local trains, trams, buses, subway. Except for the ICE \u2014 but I don't need that, I love these ordinary regional cars, where people chat, children laugh, and the smell of coffee from the machine.<\/p>\n

One morning I went to the mountains \u2014 just because it was sunny. There was a couple of elderly Germans in the car, who were going to the lake with a basket of food. We got talking, and they told me that they go like this every weekend. Because with this ticket you can. And I thought: that's it, the difference \u2014 it's not in money<\/a>, and the ability to just sit down and go, without plans, without stress.<\/p>\n In the evening I arrived in a small town, went into a bar, had a whiskey and coke and just looked out the window at the street. The sun was setting, music was playing, and there was silence in my head. The road has some kind of therapeutic effect - it's as if all my thoughts are dissolving by themselves.<\/p>\n In the following weeks, I used the ticket constantly. Even commuting to work stopped being annoying. Now, when I left the house, I thought: maybe today after my shift I'll stop somewhere further away, just for a coffee. And so it was. I discovered dozens of towns for myself that I had never even been to before.<\/p>\n And what's interesting is that this travel card doesn't just save money. It changes your mindset. When you don't think about the price, you start to notice the world. People, details, smells, the sky. It may sound trite, but it's true.<\/p>\n In 2025\u20132026, they say, it may increase in price to 59 euros. And even if it does, I will still buy it. Because it's not about money, it's about the feeling that you can go anywhere you want. Without a goal, without restrictions, just because you want to.<\/p>\n
