Thanks to the intelligent charging algorithm, they charge batteries faster than conventional chargers. Fast charging is achieved by maintaining the maximum possible charging voltage at the battery terminals and restoring the charging voltage to the float voltage when the battery is fully charged. The regenerative charging algorithm extends the battery life by applying periodic regenerative charging cycles. The SMPS-2420 charges both lead-acid and nickel-cadmium batteries. It is specifically designed for permanent connection to the generator starter batteries and does not require disconnection during start-up. The charger output voltage is adjustable from 21.00 to 28.80 V with an external analog signal of 0-10 V. This feature allows you to apply any desired charge characteristic \u00abVIt\u00bb via an external control unit. When no signal is applied, the charger provides a trickle charge voltage of 26.80 V. It can be put into \u00abboost\u00bb mode using a logic signal. The charger internally measures its output current and provides an analog output of 0-10 V. This signal can directly control the units of measurement.<\/p>\n<p>The current output and control input allow an unlimited number of chargers to be placed in parallel with an external control circuit without the need for diodes or power-consuming components. The device is cooled by an additional internal automatic fan with temperature and speed control, which operates only when needed. The fan allows operation at high temperatures at full load. In fanless versions, power reduction is applied when the internal temperature of the charger exceeds operating limits. The charger efficiency exceeds 92%, resulting in less energy loss and lower long-term operating costs. For example, compared to a charger with an efficiency of 80%, with an average load of 30% and a service life of 30 years, it will consume 6900 kWh less electricity. This is approximately $690 less in electricity costs. The device has protection against overload, short circuit and high temperature. Thanks to this function, the device outputs only the rated current during a short circuit or overload. In case of excessive temperature, it will protect itself by reducing the output current. The chargers have an open chassis, a metal case, suitable for mounting on bolts and studs in a closed panel. The low weight of the device makes it ideal for use in conditions of strong vibration. The small dimensions allow a compact panel design. The wide input voltage range allows these chargers to be used in most countries. Rectifier failure is provided as a standard feature.
