The DATAKOM AVR-4 voltage regulator is an electronic device that allows the generator to produce a fixed output voltage. The device has an open chassis, resin construction and is designed to be installed in the generator terminal box. The device does not include moving parts; therefore, it is able to operate in conditions of strong vibration. The device measures the phase to neutral of the generator and regulates the DC voltage supplied to the excitation winding to achieve the desired voltage. The device has a low-frequency protection function. The frequency measurement circuit constantly monitors the generator output and provides low-frequency protection of the excitation system, reducing the output voltage in proportion to the frequency below 45 Hz. The excitation power is obtained directly from the generator terminals. The minimum residual voltage required for build-up is 2 V AC. The output stage of the device is a half-wave thyristor output connected to a free diode. The device is basically compatible with all brushless AC generators. A stability adjustment potentiometer is also provided for this.<\/p>\n
